Working with teens

  1. That is the number of students I have helped over the last four years. Working with teenagers is a real privilege. Every session is different. We might have a session of complete silence or a constant rage of anger. What is always constant is their ability to be honest with how they feel.

A young person will rarely sugar coat a situation. They might tell you their hopes, dreams and fears. Occasionally they will talk about the trauma they have faced. Some of which they have carried for years. This is when I am truly thankful of all those hours of training.

When a person confides in you it is a real honour. Being able to listen and help them see another perspective. When you can tell them how brave they have been and how they can process those feelings. This is when you know therapy is working. https://www.bing.com/images/search?q=&view=detailv2&id=9E5F7E43A9036DE621D2A5D8B83A4EE352A86522&ccid=5xhi/ZEo&iss=fav&FORM=SVIM01&idpview=singleimage&mediaurl=https%253a%252f%252fwww.bucks.edu%252fteen-experiences%252fimagebanner%252fteen-experience-large.jpg&expw=1925&exph=1083&thid=OIP.5xhi_ZEoEZR4CyHyWEXosgHaEK&idpbck=1
